• Second feature from the Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom team that broke out with Shutter (2004). The Thai title is แฝด, simply meaning 'twin,' and GTH released it March 29, 2007.
• The conjoined-twin illusion was built old-school, no morph-heavy CGI gimmickry. Real twin-sister actresses played the younger versions joined at the torso (Hatairat and Rutairat Egereff at age 15, Chutikan and Chayakan Vimuktananda at age 7), while Marsha Vadhanapanich carried both adult sisters through compositing and doubling.
• Lead Marsha Vadhanapanich was a Thai-German pop star, not a scream queen. Alone marked her return to acting after a roughly 15-year absence from film, and critics singled out her dual-role performance.
• It out-earned Shutter, pulling around $9.37 million worldwide against the directors' debut's roughly $7 million, with a Thai run that fed a wider international release.
• The festival circuit ate it up: it swept Screamfest 2007 in Los Angeles with Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Editing, and took Best Director and Best Actress at Austin's Fantastic Fest.
• The premise traveled far. It spawned a stack of remakes across South and Southeast Asia, including the Kannada/Tamil Chaarulatha (2012) with Priyamani and Bollywood's Alone (2015) with Bipasha Basu playing the surviving sister.

The whole 'haunting' is grief wearing a ghost costume. Read straight, every manifestation is Pim's dead twin reaching back. Read against the reveal, it's the killer's guilt over what she did to win the separation she never wanted, externalized so completely that the haunter and the haunted are bound to the same body. The film never lets you settle which sister you've been rooting for, and that ambiguity is the point.

Wee, the husband, is the audience surrogate who refuses to do the math. He keeps reaching for rational explanations as the evidence stacks against the woman he married, and his denial is what lets the impostor keep the mask on as long as she does. His arc is less love story than a study in how willful blindness protects a lie.

The separation surgery is the real monster, not the apparition. The film frames the choice to cut the twins apart as the original sin everything else metastasizes from, turning a medical decision about autonomy into a curse. Whichever sister you side with, the survivor is punished for the wish to be a single person, which reads the ghost as the cost of individuality itself.

Pim left Thailand and never looked back, building a quiet marriage in Korea far from the sister stitched to her side. A dying mother drags her home, and the house she grew up in starts pulling too. Ploy is back, the conjoined twin who died the day they were cut apart, and she has not forgiven what happened on that operating table. The hauntings escalate from glimpses to violence as the film tightens toward a reveal that re-frames every grief-stricken frame: it was Pim who begged to be separated, Ploy who couldn't bear it and strangled her for it, and the woman who walked out of that surgery wearing her sister's name is not who she's been pretending to be.
