• Gumnaam is an uncredited, unlicensed lift of Agatha Christie's 1939 novel And Then There Were None - reworked into a Hindi mystery with song-and-dance numbers and broad comedy that Christie's estate never approved.
• The opening number 'Jaan Pehechan Ho' was sung by Mohammed Rafi and composed by Shankar-Jaikishan with lyrics by Shailendra; on screen the masked cabaret singer is choreographer Herman Benjamin lip-syncing to Rafi, with dancer Laxmi Chhaya in the gold dress.
• That same song became a Western cult artifact decades later, opening the 2001 film Ghost World and then anchoring Heineken's 2011 'The Date' commercial.
• Star Manoj Kumar lobbied director Raja Nawathe to cut Mehmood's comic number 'Hum Kaale Hain Toh Kya Hua' from the film; it stayed in and became such a hit that Amitabh Bachchan later mimicked Mehmood's mannerisms from it.
