The film operates as a case study in enforced enmeshment. Leon and Ursula's closeness isn't just sibling bond—it's a survival mechanism against parents who communicate only through a dummy. Pin becomes the family's actual patriarch after death, completing the cycle of a household that never permitted direct human speech.

Leon dressing Pin in his late father's own clothes, latex skin, and a wig — then seating him at the head of the dinner table — isn't Pin evolving past the father-substitute role, it's Leon completing it: manufacturing Dr. Linden's authority in plastic and latex so the household's original power structure can outlive the parents themselves.

Leon is a weird kid. His father, a cold-fish doctor, uses an anatomically correct medical dummy named Pin to "talk" to the children—ventriloquism as parenting. The dummy never leaves. When both parents die in a crash, adult Leon inherits the house, the sister he's obsessed with, and Pin, who now needs clothes, a wig, and a room of his own. Leon's psychosis deepens until Pin becomes a full co-resident with opinions on who deserves to stay alive. Stern's film walks the line between psychological thriller and pure domestic gothic, asking what happens when a kid's imaginary friend refuses to leave.
