Shadow of the Vampire

• Willem Dafoe's transformation into Max Schreck took about three hours of makeup application a day. The look was created by hair/makeup designer Ann Buchanan with prosthetics designers Pauline Fowler and Julian Murray, and the team earned the film's Academy Award nomination for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Murnau as the real monster: Schreck kills, but Murnau enables, lies, and ultimately delivers Greta to him.
