PLOT
- The Aura was Fabián Bielinsky's second and final feature — he died of a heart attack in São Paulo on June 29, 2006, at age 47, while there for an advertising casting session.
- Ricardo Darín reunited with Bielinsky after leading his first film, Nine Queens (2000); the two developed Esteban's character together during the writing process.
- The story is set among the forests of Argentine Patagonia, where Esteban's hunting trip spirals into a heist he stumbles onto after killing a stranger.
- The film swept Argentina's 2006 Silver Condor Awards, taking Best Film, Best Director (Bielinsky), Best Actor (Darín), and Best Original Screenplay, among other prizes.
- It also won the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Film at the 2005 San Sebastián International Film Festival and was Argentina's official submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 78th Academy Awards.
- Esteban's defining trait — an eidetic, photographic memory — is what lets him mentally reconstruct the entire armored-truck heist plan just from studying the dead man's documents once.
