PLOT
- Ted V. Mikels shot most of the film at the castle-style house he lived in, in Glendale, California, with additional scenes filmed on Cecil B. DeMille's estate — a location Mikels himself confirmed on the film's audio commentary.
- Mikels made the film on a famously threadbare budget he pegged at around $1,700 total, with only about $17 of that going toward building the notorious 'corpse grinder' prop itself.
- Leading man Sean Kenney, who plays Dr. Howard, had already played a disfigured, wheelchair-bound Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek's two-part episode 'The Menagerie' before landing in Mikels' cult classic; he retired from acting in 1980 to become a commercial photographer.
- The film did well enough to spawn a genuine sequel nearly three decades later: The Corpse Grinders 2 (2000), which Mikels wrote, shot, edited, produced, and directed himself, this time with an alien-invasion subplot grafted onto the same cat-food premise.
