The Hourglass Sanatorium

The sanatorium exists outside the Holocaust, deliberately ignoring it. Schulz was killed by the Gestapo, and Has's film builds a world where Jewish death and ritual persist in a timeless pocket, a secret archive of a culture being erased in real time. The horror is not that the dead won't stop happening, but that the world outside the sanatorium is making certain they never happened at all.
