The killer isn't one person but a rotating conspiracy — the locked-room logic only holds if several victims were incapacitated before their 'murder' scenes, suggesting more than one guest had a private grudge to settle before turning on each other.

Every murder maps to a specific Deadly Sin, and the nine seats mirror the nine circles of Dante's Inferno, making the theater a literal Purgatory the characters already entered dead. Patrick's 'homecoming' is his assignment as ferryman, not survivor.

On his birthday, theater heir Patrick Davenant leads a group of family and friends into the private playhouse his family has kept sealed for a century — his sister and her friend, his daughter and her boyfriend, his ex-wife and her new husband, a starlet and her lover. He frames it as a nostalgic reopening. It's actually the next chapter of a five-hundred-year Davenant curse: legend says an ancestor once slaughtered his own guests in that same theater, and the bloodshed is fated to repeat itself every hundred years. The doors seal. A killer in a translucent, ginger-haired half-mask and black cloak starts picking the guests off one by one, staging each death with theatrical flourish. When the survivors finally turn on Patrick and strangle him, they think the curse is broken — until they find their own names carved into graves in the theater's basement, and the dead come to collect anyway.
