The aquarium isn't set dressing. Miles keeps predatory fish in a glass box, watches them consume each other, then steps into a nearly identical structure with Harry. The film reads as a cosmic joke about a man who doesn't recognize he's the prey in his own tank.

Harry Reikle's Santa costume isn't random disguise—it's a deliberate profanation of trust. He wears the season's ultimate symbol of generosity to commit theft and terrorize the women around him, framing the entire film as a corruption parable where the only thing being stolen is innocence itself.

Toronto teller Miles Cullen pockets a chunk of his bank's Christmas haul before a masked robber can grab it. The robber figures out the skim. What follows is a nasty little chess match between a clerk who thinks he's clever and a psychopath who's genuinely dangerous. Christopher Plummer plays Harry Reikle—Santa suit, switchblade, and a smile that belongs on a sex offender registry—while Elliott Gould's Miles spirals from smug to desperate. The girl gets involved. The aquarium gets involved. Nobody walks away clean.
