PLOT
  • It's not a documentary — it's a three-segment horror anthology ("O Fabricante de Bonecas"/The Dollmaker, "Tara"/Obsession, and "Ideologia") with Coffin Joe appearing only briefly as an on-screen host, making it one of the rare Marins films where he's mostly off-camera.
  • Brazil's military dictatorship banned the finished film in 1968 as censorship tightened under Institutional Act No. 5 (AI-5); a censor's proposed fix was to kill off the Zé do Caixão character outright, which Marins couldn't afford to reshoot.
  • The film only cleared censors and reached theaters in November 1968 after producer George Michel Serkeis spliced in a stock explosion lifted from the 1961 Omar Sharif film "Um Estranho em Minha Casa" to replace the banned ending.
  • In the final segment, "Ideologia," Marins plays a sadistic professor named Oãxiac Odéz — "Zé do Caixão" spelled backward.
  • The most notorious segment, "The Dollmaker," centers on a craftsman whose daughters seduce and rob victims so he can harvest their eyes for his dolls.
