• The screenplay was co-written by a young Carlos Enrique Taboada, who would go on to become one of Mexican horror's most acclaimed directors (Poison for the Fairies, Blacker Than the Night) — this was one of his earliest genre credits.
• Cinematographer Jorge Stahl Jr. built the film's gothic dread almost entirely out of deep shadow and stark, otherworldly lighting rather than elaborate sets.
• The film was produced under Abel Salazar's Cinematográfica ABSA banner, the same outfit behind a run of seven Mexican horror features released between 1957 and 1963.
• Sources disagree on the release year (1960 vs. 1962) because the film was actually shot around 1960 but didn't see wide theatrical release until 1962.
• The film later crossed into the U.S. via an English dub distributed by K. Gordon Murray, a key importer of Mexican horror for the American drive-in circuit.

The mirror itself may be neutral, a passive window — it's Sara's own grief and rage that enters it and takes the shape of Elena's vengeful spirit. The horror is what a person channels through the object, not the object itself.

Eduardo's surgery on Deborah was never really about healing her: grafting a dead pianist's hands onto his new wife, he's unconsciously remaking her in Elena's image. Sara's swap of the hands just completes a transformation Eduardo already set in motion.

Sara isn't purely a righteous avenger — by the end, the violence carried out through Elena's stolen hands rivals what Eduardo did to Elena, suggesting the film's real subject is revenge as its own contagion rather than justice served.

Sara, a witch serving as housekeeper to her orphaned goddaughter Elena, watches helplessly as Elena's husband, Dr. Eduardo, poisons her to clear the way for his mistress, Deborah. Grief curdles into vengeance: Sara turns to a mirror charged with dark power to expose the murder and loose Elena's furious spirit on the newlyweds. When a fireplace accident leaves Deborah's face and hands ruined, her obsessed husband turns surgeon, grafting stolen cadaver skin and a dead pianist's severed hands onto his bride to rebuild her — only for Sara to swap those hands for Elena's own ghostly ones. What follows is Gothic revenge by remote control, a dead woman's hands turning on the man who killed her, one stitched-together kill at a time. Urueta stages this collapse with gothic fervor, trading moral lessons for pure, unadulterated supernatural dread where the glass surface acts as a one-way gate to hell.
