PLOT
- The film took five years to make, with directors Joaquín Cociña and Cristóbal León hand-animating almost all of it themselves using paint, paper, tape, and found objects — no digital shortcuts.
- Instead of hiding away in one closed studio, the team built and destroyed the sets as a live, evolving art exhibition, staged inside museums and galleries in Santiago, Amsterdam, and Hamburg while the public watched the film get made.
- Funding came from Chile's Fund for Film Project Development and FONDART (the National Council of Culture and the Arts) — the production doubled as gallery installations, which made it eligible for both film and art subsidies.
- The story is inspired by real survivor accounts from Colonia Dignidad, the German-run cult colony used to torture and disappear people under Pinochet, though the film never says the name on screen — it calls the place only "the Colony."
- There are just two voice actors in the whole film: Amalia Kassai voices María and both pigs-turned-humans, Ana and Pedro, while Rainer Krause voices both the sect leader and the Wolf, switching between Spanish and German.
- The film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2018 and later won the Jury Distinction at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
