• The wraparound segment 'Tape 49' was written and directed solely by Simon Barrett — Adam Wingard instead directed 'Phase I Clinical Trials,' the bionic-eye segment.
• 'A Ride in the Park' is shot almost entirely from the infected cyclist's own point of view via a helmet camera, an unusual choice that puts the audience behind the zombie's eyes for most of the segment.

By the time the tape runs out, the investigators aren't watching the footage anymore — they're on it, proving some tapes should never get found.
